iPhone 5 Concept: a long 4-inch screen

The iLounge site has recently announced that Apple would switch to a 4 inch screen. As we noted in our previous article yesterday, the rumor was confirmed by the Wall Street Journal. Nevertheless, the concept that we proposed here increases the size of the screen only in height, keeping the width as it is today on the iPhone 4S. The new iPhone 5 would be higher but not wider. It is however a rumor and an iPhone 5 prototype .

What could such a model look like?

We propose below two small images of a prototype with the first representation of the possible long iPhone 5 iPhone next to a 4S.

The iPhone 5 is 10 millimeters higher than its previous version against 11 mm more height for the screen.

The long iPhone 5 screen that would reach 4 inches could allow Apple to move to five lines of application instead of four now. The connector is also smaller as can be seen on the images, and the hull of the iPhone 5 would be adorned with a metal plate.

The New Samsung Galaxy SIII vs Next iPhone 5

South Korea's Samsung Electronics on last Thursday presented a new model in its line of Galaxy smartphone rival to the iPhone, with a larger touchscreen and a more powerful processor.

Samsung, which has supplanted the lead of the Finnish Nokia in cell phones this year, said its new model, the SIII, will be on sale in late May in some countries and in the whole world from June.

Last week, Samsung has reported a quarter profit of $ 5.2 billion, on sales of the Galaxy SII whose sales exceeded those of the iPhone from the U.S. Apple..

Samsung has produced more than 20,000 per hour Galaxy in the first quarter. The smartphone was the largest contributor to operating earnings.

The New Samsung Galaxy SIII

The new SIII will feature a 4.8 inch screen, an 8-megapixel camera and will work with the latest version of Google Android.

Won-Pyo Hong, head of product strategy for Samsung's mobile branch, said he expected that the SIII will sell better than the SII, which has sold over 20 million units. The marketing budget will also increase, although the brand is already well known, he added.

"Samsung has to make the most of those four to five months with the Galaxy SIII before Apple once again gives the iPhone a new breath with its next generation," said Geoff Blaber, analyst at CCS Insight.

Samsung also hopes that the quad-core microprocessor used in the SIII will also be combined by Nokia, HTC and Motorola, and Apple, its main customers for components.

The processor Exynos 4, based on the technology of Cortex A9 British ARM Holdings, allows for more tasks in less time.

Samsung stocks hit a record high after its first quarter results. Stocks reached $ 190 billion (145 billion euros), four times the Japan's Sony. Nevertheless, it is a third of that of Apple, the first in the world market capitalization.

Apple's WWDC 2012 announced for next June in San Francisco

The Apple keynote was announced yesterday April 24th by the firm!

Like last year, it will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. This year it will take place from Monday 11th to Friday, Jun 15th.

As a reminder, the WWDC (WorldWide Developer Conference) rounds up application developers for several days around the main themes of Apple, ie iOS and OS X.

WWDC is known for his keynote, the conference where Apple introduces to developers, but also to the world the news coming. The keynote takes place mostly during the opening week of WWDC. Apple: record financial results! the share price at +9%

Apple announced late yesterday evening its results on the first three months of 2012 breaking all previous records.

These days, Apple's stock had tumbled on the stock market, investors fearing a decrease in sales of iPhones: the Apple's flagship product. It is nevertheless not what happened: Apple has made $ 39.2 billion in revenue, more than analysts had forecast, or 15 billion higher compared to the same period the year before !

Regarding profits, Apple can boast of having doubled compared to first quarter 2011: the firm has won no less than $ 11.6 billion over this period.

Although some markets where Apple sells iPhones, as the United States, are slightly stagnant, other emerging countries, like China, have enabled the brand to remarkably push sales. The iPhone 5, likely to be released this year, will allow Apple to boost sales dramatically.

The new iPhone 5 will be thinner !

On the eve of the presentation of quarter results from Apple, we invite you to discover the current rumor about the iPhone 5.

After the articles about a new alloy shell for future iPhone 5, we propose to discover the current rumor.

The interior of the new iPhone could be equipped with cells in the touch panel of the unit, that will be incorporating touch sensor in the display. Thus, it is no longer needed as currently having an extra layer linked to the screen so that the tactile system would be working properly. Removing this layer could reduce the thickness of the new iPhone 5 of about 0.44 mm.


Currently 9.3 mm thickness, the previous iPhones remained generally quite thick. The iPhone 5 could change the way down to around 8 mm of the alloy with Liquidmetal and display technology that we introduced above. This could help to reduce overall of 1.3 mm thickness of the hull of the iPhone 5.

Another advantage: these screens are much less time to manufacture, and manufacturing process provides better production yields. This is important because it could allow its subcontractor Foxconn to increase its productivity (the number of iPhone 5 produced) and thus reduce production costs of about 10 to 20%. Do not however expect low Prices! After the iPhone 4S, the iPhone 5 will not be low cost, it's a near certainty.

Philippe Starck responsible for the design of iPhone 5

The question of design of the new iPhone 5 is at the heart of all debates, it's been several months since you were talking about the iPhone 5, of its possible features, its probable output in June or Autumn, and this does not seem ready to stop.

Will the iPhone 5 be announced at the Apple's quarter financial results?

Apple's action on the stock market varies considerably these days, investors not knowing what to expect regarding future performance of the firm. It evokes a flat sales, but what is primarily expected, the operating earnings from Apple, which will rise if a drop in sales may not alter the margin of the company.

Considering the current context, Apple remains until now a safe haven.

Below you can see the change in sales of Apple, billions of dollars between 2008 and late 2011. We realize the tremendous growth of Apple in the space of a few years, but also the difficulty to maintain  a continued growth. The iPhone 5 could boost sales even more of Apple to a new level.

Although this rumor was relayed by many sites, it is not possible a priori that the iPhone 5 is advertised or even mentioned during the announcement of financial results of Apple.

The iPhone 5 was not announced during the quarter financial results... Although Apple announced the quarter financial results for the fiscal second quarter of 2012, with revenue of $39.2 billion (£24bn) and net profit of $11.6 billion (£7.1 billion).

Why the iPhone 5 will not come out in June?

For the past few months, rumors more or less reliable and consistent announce a release date of the iPhone 5 for June 2012.

Why the release of the iPhone in June 5 is not possible ?

We must remember that the iPhone 4S was presented in Cupertino at the WWDC (the Apple keynote), not far from company headquarters in early October for release 10 days later, the October 14, 2011.

An announcement in June followed by a few days later output would mean that the iPhone 4S would have been marketed as 8 months. It therefore seems unlikely. Also, an announcement in June for a release several months later is not in the interests of Apple and is therefore not possible at all.

So, when the iPhone 5 will come out?

1. Between the first version of the iPhone (Original iPhone) and second (iPhone 3G), 8 months have passed.
2. Between the second and the third version (iPhone 3G), 11 months elapsed.
3. Between the third and fourth version (iPhone 4), a year has passed.
4. Finally, between the fourth and fifth release, the iPhone 4S, 16 months have passed, a year and 4 months.

Considering that the iPhone 4S is not in itself a revolution, and knowing that the fall period just before the holiday season is a very important time in terms of sales, it is more than certain that the new iPhone will be released this fall, more logically ... in October or November why not?

We will follow the daily developments and rumors and interpret the probable the output of the next iPhone, the iPhone 5. However, with Apple, nothing is certain, as no information was officially communicated.
